Eugenio Elias Biografía


Eugenio Elias se graduó del Conservatorio de Nueva Inglaterra en 1985.

Ha actuado con las principales orquestas sinfónicas de Argentina y México (Filarmónica de Buenos Aires y Filarmónica de la Ciudad de México, entre otras), actuando bajo directores como Enrique Batiz, Serge Baudo, Jorge Mester, Scott Yoo y Sergiu Comissiona. Además ha actuado con grupos y solistas tan variados como Rolando Villazón, José Carreras, Plácido Domingo, Ramón Vargas, Armando Manzanero, Consuelo Velázquez, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Bobby McFerrin y Soda Stereo.

Como promotor de jazz, ha producido muchos conciertos de jazz en México para instituciones como Festival Internacional Cervantino, Festival de México en el Centro Histórico, Euro Jazz, Teatro de la Ciudad de La Paz, Centro Cultural Teopanzolco y Conjunto Santander de Artes Escénicas.

Entre 2005 y 2012 fue programador en el Zinco Jazz Club del cual es cofundador, y desde 2013 ha sido curador y productor de la serie de jazz New York Jazz All Stars, trayendo a algunos de los mejores artistas de jazz a los estados mexicanos de Guadalajara, Coahuila, Puebla y Morelos, además de presentar 8 conciertos al año en el Centro Cultural Roberto Cantoral en la Ciudad de México.

Los artistas que han actuado con sus grupos en México bajo su trabajo curatorial incluyen: Marquis Hill, Benny Bennack, Camille Thurman, Walter Blanding, Melissa Aldana, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Camila Meza, Gilad Hekselman, Ulysses Owens Jr., Antonio Sanchez, Clarence Penn, Miguel Zenon, Sherman Irby, Helen Sung, Catherine Russell, Vuyo Sotashe, Cyrus Chesnut, Gerald Clayton, Sharel Cassity, Christian Sands, Orrin Evans, Gerald Cannon, Marcus Printup, The Rodriguez Brothers, George Garzone, Omer Avital, Luis Bonilla, Lizz Wright y muchos más.

En los últimos cuatro años produjo 34 sesiones del Taller Avanzado para Ejecutantes de Jazz (Taller avanzado para intérpretes de jazz), un taller intensivo de un día destinado a crear un espacio educativo de alto perfil para los aspirantes a músicos de jazz en México a través del contacto cercano y la interacción con artistas de jazz establecidos.

En 2020 será el productor de la Residencia Antonio Sánchez en el Centro Nacional de las Artes en la Ciudad de México, una residencia educativa de cuatro días que será organizada por Antonio Sánchez junto con Thana Alexa, Scott Colley, Kenny Werner, Miguel Zenon y Adam. Rogers

Eugenio Elias Biography


Eugenio Elias graduated from New England Conservatory in 1985.

He has performed with the major symphony orchestras in Argentina and Mexico (Buenos Aires Philharmonic & Mexico City Philharmonic among others), performing under conductors like Enrique Batiz, Serge Baudo, Jorge Mester, Scott Yoo and Sergiu Comissiona. Additionally he has performed with groups and soloists as varied as Rolando Villazón, José Carreras, Plácido Domingo, Ramón Vargas, Armando Manzanero, Consuelo Velazquez, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Bobby McFerrin and Soda Stereo.

As a jazz promotor he has produced many jazz concerts in Mexico for institutions like Festival Internacional Cervantino, Festival de Mexico en el Centro Historico, Euro Jazz, Teatro de la Ciudad de La Paz, Centro Cultural Teopanzolco and Conjunto Santander de Artes Escénicas.

Between 2005 and 2012 he was programmer at Zinco Jazz Club of which he is cofounder, and since 2013 he has been curator and producer for the jazz series New York Jazz All Stars, bringing some of the best jazz artists to the Mexican states of Guadalajara, Coahuila, Puebla and Morelos, in addition to presenting 8 concerts a year in Centro Cultural Roberto Cantoral in Mexico City.

In the last four years he produced 34 sessions of the Taller Avanzado para Ejecutantes de Jazz (Advanced Workshop for Jazz Performers), an intensive one day workshop aimed at creating a high profile educational space for aspiring jazz musicians in Mexico through close contact and interaction with established jazz artists.

In 2020 he will be the producer for the Antonio Sanchez Residency at the National Center for the Arts in Mexico City, a four day educational residency which will be hosted by Antonio Sanchez along with Thana Alexa, Scott Colley, Kenny Werner, Miguel Zenon and Adam Rogers.
