"Amo il jazz perché ... devo mettermi alla prova ogni volta."

Il chitarrista Simone Gubbiotti è un musicista con una forte presenza sia negli Stati Uniti che in Europa. Con sede in Umbria (Italia) Simone frequenta regolarmente gli Stati Uniti dove si esibisce con musicisti come Sid Jacobs, Joe La Barbera, Peter Erskine, Arthur Blythe, Darek Oles, Adam Nussbaum e Jay Anderson.

La musica non è stata la prima passione di Simone. Ha iniziato la sua carriera nel mondo dello sport dove ha giocato professionalmente per alcune delle migliori squadre di calcio italiane tra cui l'AC Milan. Dopo aver subito un grave infortunio al ginocchio Simone ha preso la decisione di rimettere a fuoco e perseguire una carriera nella musica.

Simone ha inizialmente studiato chitarra jazz a livello locale nella sua nativa Italia e successivamente ha proseguito gli studi presso il Berklee College of Music e il G.I.T (Guitar Institute of Technology) di Los Angeles. Simone si è esibito in tutta Europa e negli Stati Uniti, sia come sideman che come leader. Tuttavia, è da quando ha firmato con l'etichetta di New York Dot Time Records che Simone ha iniziato a ottenere l'attenzione che merita.

Le prime uscite di Simone come leader “racce di Eoni” (con Joe La Barbera e Darek Oles) e “Sinergy” (con Joe La Barbera e Joe Bagg) sono state ben accolte sia dal pubblico che dalla stampa. L'ultima versione di Simone "Promise to a Friend" (2012) su Dot Time records è un set di 10 composizioni originali e presenta Peter Erskine alla batteria e Darek Oles al contrabbasso.

Le composizioni registrate su questo CD segnano una pietra miliare nella carriera di Simone. Simone afferma nelle note di copertina “Questa registrazione è nata da queste riflessioni e dalle esperienze del mio viaggio personale negli ultimi anni. È dedicato in particolare a un amico meraviglioso che credo mi abbia salvato la vita. Paolo mi ha mostrato che posso essere quello che voglio essere e anche se Paolo non è più con noi è stato in grado di insegnarmi l'importanza di trattare la vita con il giusto atteggiamento e visione. "

Guitarist Simone Gubbiotti is a musician with a strong presence in both the USA and Europe. Based in Umbria (Italy) Simone frequents the US regularly where he performs with musicians including Sid Jacobs, Joe La Barbera, Peter Erskine, Arthur Blythe, Darek Oles, Adam Nussbaum and Jay Anderson.

Music was not Simone's first passion. He began his career in the world of sport where he played professionally for a number of top Italian soccer clubs including AC Milan. After sustaining a serious knee injury Simone took the decision to refocus and pursue a career in music.

Simone initially studied jazz guitar locally in his native Italy and later furthered is studies at the Berklee college of Music and the G.I.T (Guitar Institute of Technology) in los Angeles. Simone has performed throughout Europe and the United States, both as a sideman and leader. However, it is since his signing with New York based label Dot Time records that Simone has started to gain the attention he deserves.

Simone's first releases as a leader “racce di Eoni” (featuring Joe La Barbera and Darek Oles) and “Sinergy” (with Joe La Barbera and Joe Bagg) were well received both by the public and the press. Simone’s latest release “Promise to a Friend” (2012) on Dot Time records is a set of 10 original compositions and features Peter Erskine on drums and Darek Oles on double bass.

The compositions recorded on this CD mark a milestone in Simone’s career. Simone states in the liner notes “This recording was born out of these reflections and the experiences of my personal journey over the past few years. It’s dedicated in particular to a wonderful friend who I believe saved my life. Paolo showed me that I can be who I want to be and even though Paolo is no longer with us he was able to teach me the importance of treating life with the right attitude and vision.”
